When you own a recreational vehicle and there are so many places to see, there’s nothing better than embarking on a camping trip for your next vacation. It’s going to be fun, but let’s back up a little and consider how you’re going to pack for your next outing. There are plenty of things to consider in the packing process, so we made up a list of RV camping essentials, which you can use to create your own packing checklist!

Plan Before you Pack

Before loading up your RV, don’t just start carrying stuff in randomly. Instead, make a list for each room or area in your camper. For frequent travelers, it’s not a bad idea to keep non-perishables in your rig all the time, which will make packing that much easier. Besides that, we’ve broken the rest of our RV camping essentials down by room, which means you can make a simple checklist right from this guide.

Kitchen

It’s important to load your kitchen with non-breakable dishes that fit inside each other. You don’t want to carry a bunch of mismatched dishes that take up separate space on the shelf. You’ll also want to avoid fragile stuff, which will break too easily if a sharp turn makes the dishes go flying. Collapsible dishes can help save a lot of space, and divide bulk items into small, labeled containers.

Bathroom

Of course, you shouldn’t take your entire bathroom supplies into your RV with you. Just settle for essentials that you use daily, and if there are a few things you might want to try while on vacation, pack them in a travel-size container. Also, make sure to stock toilet paper and cleaning supplies in your bathroom’s storage area to keep your toilet and sink clean and odor-free.

Bedroom

You’ll want to bring the most comfortable pillows, sheets, and blankets for your bed, as holidays call for a relaxing bedroom. Plus, take the clothes that are easy to clean and dry. Generally, keeping your clothes simple is the best way to ensure they mix and match easily, which will give you lots of different outfit options.

Tools

Last but not least, you should always be prepared for an unexpected mechanical breakdown of your camper, so bring multiple sizes of wrenches and screwdrivers. Pliers and a hammer will also be useful, and it’s wise to carry an extra hose for your water tanks. Don’t forget blocks, chocks, and a jack either, as these are essential for parking and leveling your rig.

It’s important to pack all these RV camping essentials to make sure you’re all set up correctly for your vacation.
