Now that the weather is warming up, it's time to start planning your upcoming camping trips! But before you hit the open road, it's crucial to properly prepare your RV for the journey ahead. We've got all the RV spring prep tips you need to know to get your rig ready for a safe and enjoyable experience. Read on to learn more.

Perform an Inspection

First things first – do a thorough inspection of your RV. Check for any signs of damage outside and inside your camper. Don't forget to examine the slide-outs, side walls, and all seams to ensure they're in tip-top shape. It's also essential to look over the inside of your RV to make sure there haven't been any pest infestations and that all your appliances are functioning properly.

Spring Maintenance

Once you've completed your inspection, it's time to take care of any necessary maintenance tasks. Address any repairs now to avoid any breakdowns on the road. Make sure to replace light bulbs, check appliances, test your battery, and ensure your generator is in working order. Lubricate any slide-outs and ensure that doors or windows are not jammed. If you’ve got a motorhome, don't forget to inspect its spark plugs, check brake fluid, refill the coolant, change the oil, and replace air and oil filters. You’ll also want to check your RV's tires for any signs of wear and tear. Replace them as needed and be sure to air them up to the manufacturer's recommended pressure level.

Gather All the Supplies

Next, it’s time to stock up on safety and emergency gear, such as a replenished first-aid kit with medications and bandages, a repair kit, a spare tire, an air compressor, emergency flares, a hand-crank radio, a hatchet, fire extinguishers, and bottled water and non-perishable food. All these items can come in handy in case of an emergency.

Don't forget to wash your linens, including towels, blankets, sheets, and curtains, and put these back in your RV. Stock up on cleaning supplies, like paper towels, dish soap, scrubbing brushes, sponges, a mop, a broom, trash bags, and a compact vacuum. Ensure that your kitchen is well-stocked with all the necessary tools to cook and serve meals, along with some basic staples, spices, and condiments.
